Education and Outreach

Operating at the heart of a network of academic, industrial and military researchers, the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials creates specialized educational opportunities that complement the excellent training programs of our partner institutions.

The NIH funds the Center's Postdoctoral Training in Translational Research in Regenerative Medicine, a program providing individualized training that prepares researchers through interdisciplinary, translational and cross-sector experiences.

Courses and workshops serve both academic and industrial scientists with special topics drawn from newly emerging biomaterials science and technology.

A Biomaterials Lecture Series has been endowed by the Rutgers Class of 1954.  The first event was held in March 2006, starting a progression of  presentations by international leaders in biomaterials science and related biomedical issues.

The New Jersey Center for Biomaterials will celebrate its 25th year of bringing together members of the biomaterials community to share and present their ideas.  On October 24-25, 2016, the NJ Symposium on Biomaterials Science will use a new format of bringing together researchers and industry collaborators to gather and discuss the newest innovations in biomaterials and the business knowledge it takes to bring a concept dreamed up in a laboratory to an actual product.  This is the first time the Center has opened the symposium up to submitted abstracts as well as invited keynote speakers.  What was initially a bi-annual gathering is now constructed as an annual meeting to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of biomaterials.
