Class 10,000 Clean Room

The New Jersey Center for Biomaterials has designed and built an EN/ISO-14644 Class 7 (US Federal Standard 209 Class 10,000) Cleanroom within the Life Sciences Building located on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ.  Planned to enhance the interdisiplinary programs of the Center, this is a unique facility within an educational institution.

The cleanroom offers varied opportunities to the Center's academic and industrial partners:

• Controlled environment for the processing of biomaterials, or for other operations used in materials research and pre-clinical studies.
• Training ground for graduate and post-doctoral students to develop skills and knowledge in cleanroom operations and FDA regulations and guidelines pertaining to the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.
• Fee-for-service use by industrial partners for the manufacture of subcomponent or finished medical devices or other products.

A generous gift from the Rutgers Class of 1954 has contributed to the equipping of this special research resource.
