Earlier this month, NJCBM Director, Dr. Joachim Kohn traveled to Santiago, Chile. He was invited by the Fundación Copec-UC to be a keynote speaker at their 12th International Seminar, which was focused on “Bioengineering: Science and Technology for Life” and had approximately 700 attendees.
Fundación Copec-UC is a partnership between Empresas Copec (a natural resources and energy corporation) and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (a university in Chile). The visit was arranged by Dr. Kohn’s former student Dr. Loreto Valenzuela who is now on the faculty at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Dr. Kohn’s keynote talk was titled “Moving biomedical research into the clinic: Opportunites and Challenges” or “Impulsando la investigación biomédica a la clínica: oportunidades y desafíos”
In addition to the Seminar, Dr. Kohn participated in a seminar on “Bioengineering: an approach to the scientific and technological reality in Chile” at the UC Anacleto Angelini Innovation Center at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. While there he also met with university leadership (pictured below) and had several interviews. Dr. Kohn was featured in the paper of record for Chile, El Mercurio and on a radio program on Tele13 Radio.
